Day1 - Aughertree Fell moves to Askham Fell
Unfortunately we lost the access to Aughertree Fell a few weeks ago.
Discussions with the Lake District National Park Authority in 2025 suggested that we would get permission for the area and we had arranged parking with a local farmer. Final confirmation was required from the Caldbeck Commoners Association’s annual meeting in mid-February.
We found out that we had been refused access by the Commoners at the end of the month.
Since then we have pursued different options and have been successful with our third replacement area.
We are immensely grateful to both Lowther Estates & United Utilities for allowing us access to Askham Fell.
Whereas Aughertree lies to the North West of Penrith, Askham Fell lies to the South West.
But is similar in character being open fell with a myriad of negative features.
Further updates will be posted to the Lakes 5 Days website and our Facebook pages over the coming weeks as our organisation for this replacement area proceeds.
