What is the entry fee?

How do I amend the class and other details of an existing entry?

Please see the entries page for amendments and changes.

Will there be any entry on the day (EOD)?

EOD will be available for colour coded courses. EOD for age classes will ONLY be available if there are unused start times and maps are available.

Can I cancel my entry and get a refund?

See the cancellation policy on the entries page.

Can I use my SI-8, SI-9, SI-10 or SI-11 card?

Yes, all our SI units have the latest software for SI-8, SI-9, SI-10 and SI-11 cards.

Is there a rest day?

Yes, on Wednesday 6th August, there will be no 5’Days competition although there will be an Urban Race in Ulverston in the early evening.

What are the start times each day?

Starts are 10.30am to 2pm with courses closing at 4pm

Will there be a bus to each competition day?

Unfortunately we are unable to provide a bus service to the individual race sites.

What facilities will the campsite have for caravans/campervans?

When will the campsite open/close?

The ‘orienteering campsite’ includes nights from Saturday 2nd August to Saturday 9th August (departing Saturday); other arrangements may be made directly with the campsite.

Will there be a crèche/kindergarten provided for children?

No, however it is possible for parents to request split starts.

What courses will be provided for young children?

There will be non-competitive (i.e. not timed) string course provided each day for young children, using special maps. The course will be available between 10:00 and 15:00. There will be no charge. Please indicate on the entry website if you intend to use this facility.

Is there mobile phone reception?

This can be variable between each of the competition areas and depending on your phone network.

Will there be traders at the event where I can buy equipment?

Yes there will be traders who supply orienteering equipment; this will be an excellent opportunity to upgrade your o-kit.

Will dogs be allowed in assembly areas?

The Lake District is sheep country; many of the landowners whose land we run and park on are dependent on sheep. Well behaved dogs on a lead are welcome in car parks; owners are expected to clean up after them.

Motorhomes

Many of the approach roads to the race sites are narrow and winding with dry stone walls on both sides. Although we expect most days to have motorhome parking; in some instances it WILL be further away, up to 2km, from the main car parking and may involve using pay and display hard standing car parks.

Will start times be allocated for colour coded competitors?

Start times will not be allocated to colour coded competitors. They can start at any time between 10am and 1pm

Quiz Results

Many thanks for entering the quiz, winners were Ed Lines and Heather Smithard. Some questions were easy with a bit of googling, others required a bit of lateral thinking. The hardest question was about Quentin’s training which resulted in answers from none to well over 24 hours a week.

Prize winners

If you were unable to attend the Prizegiving on Friday, or did not get your Day Prize, you can contact the Entry Secretary to arrange collection. Sue will be at the White Rose and the BOC events in September (at the MDOC feather).

Day 1 Swindale update

Since printing the event programme we have been notified that there is another ‘1500 competitor event’ on the Swindale area on Sunday as the same time. The other event follows a ‘taped route’ indicated by yellow posts. Maps will be available at the start and in the assembly area indicating the route that the other event takes; courses from the White start are unaffected and not all courses cross the route; please be courteous.

Traders

CompassPoint, Ultrasport, Tom’s/Continental Catering and O Nosh will be in attendance at each day’s event; refreshments at the Registration day will be provided by the Auction Mart, Café Ambio.
